Five a.m. practices. Out-of-state games and tournaments. Grabbing meals on the go. Welcome to the world of high-stakes club sports. At Morris Spine & Sport, we see lots of young athletes passionately pursuing their sport of choice, with sights set on the big prize-a college scholarship.
Natural chiropractic care, along with our other modalities, can help athletes of all ages prevent injury and be at their athletic best-whether on the court, field, rink or mat.
We Understand Athletes
Our Clinic Director (and certified personal trainer) Jim Harrington has been active in youth sports for over two decades. Jim has his USA Hockey Level 4 Coaching Certification (2nd highest), and he is also Level C (highest) Certified Coach within USA Baseball.
Jim’s boys each started playing hockey at 4-years old and continued through college. Virtually all of that time saw Jim coaching AAA hockey teams and Town and Summer baseball teams. Jim also served on the Attleboro (MA) Youth Baseball Board of Directors for several years. He is passionate about communicating to parents the benefits of sports chiropractic and the various supportive services that our practice offers.
Keeping Kids in the Game
Dr. Case is a Board Certified Chiropractic Sports Practitioner who has treated athletes for more than 20 years. She can help keep an athlete’s spine and joints optimally aligned, so they’re less likely to get injured. “Don’t wait until you’re injured to start care. If your athlete is not already participating in care, chiropractic can help them perform better. Chiropractic care, along with the targeted and highly customizable training programs we offer, can help minimize stress on the bodies (and minds) of young athletes so they can handle the rigors of this demanding lifestyle a little better,” said Jim.
In addition to chiropractic, we offer the following to help athletes:
- Root Cause Functional Medicine
- Personal training
- Therapeutic exercise and rehabilitation
- Power Plate whole body vibration therapy
- Laser therapy
- Therapeutic massage
- K-taping
- Active Release Technique
- Electric stimulation
- Ultrasound
Dr. Case, as a Certified Functional Medicine Practitioner (CFMP), has a wealth of experience designing solutions to complex health issues — from “leaky gut” to endocrine issues, and everything in between. Using her highly disciplined approach, the doctor will help uncover your root causes and leverage nutrition guidance and supplement recommendations to help your athletes maintain optimal health.
Helping Parents Too
Given that many parents are juggling workplace and family demands, along with shuttling their athlete to practices and tournaments, it’s no surprise lots of moms and dads are stressed. High-end athletics can easily involve hundreds of travel miles and dozens of hours each week. It’s no wonder why so many of these warrior parents and caregivers experience undiagnosed gut health and other health issues. Through regular chiropractic sessions and ensuring proper nutrition and supplementation, we can help parents manage their stress and associated conditions.
Evaluating the Rewards & Risks
Participating in high-level club sports certainly has its benefits. Families can become much closer because they spend a lot of time together. We also find that these young athletes possess strong organizational and planning skills, and they understand what it takes to juggle multiple priorities and get the job done.
Despite all of the wonderful benefits that can come with success in the athletic arena, it’s not all pleasure. Injuries can (and do) happen. Eating “on the fly” and “vacationing” at tournaments isn’t for everyone. Every child/family has to make the choices that are best for their situation. However, the benefits of good health and proper nutrition are universal – and that’s where we can help!
